Saturdays from Sat 12 June 11am a group will meet somewhere along Dodder or other places South Dub / Dundrum / Wicklow and pick up rubbish. Very nice way of getting out and experiencing some Nature. :)


Among the Nature experienced this time was nettle stings, briar scratches, wrestling with weeds to extract bigger interesting items of rubbish. We found a ladybird village. Kate liked that. We picked up down towards Clonskeagh and up to some little park up from that pub near the bridge where we met.

A cheeky slogan that came into my head on the way home:

Dublin South Greens are organising a clean up of the river Dodder from the M50 to Clonskeagh.

Saturdays at 11am. We will work until 16.00 so feel free to come for an hour or two, or the whole day if you wish. The clean up will involve litter picking along the footpaths and cycleways along the river. We will be cleaning the river bed and banks in September after the hatching and nesting season are over and we expect to take two Saturdays to do the part of the river mentioned.

We will provide litter pickers, bags and gloves and will have tea, coffee and biscuits as well. Hope to see you there!

How to see what is in multi-part MIME messages your email prog cannot decode: munpack

Pauline has "Got a nokia e63, takes jpegs. I send it via hotmail using 3 as the server" and I could see some of the pictures she sent in Thunderbird, but not others. Same for my Mum using Windows+some version of Outlook.

How to see what is in multi-part MIME messages your email prog cannot decode:


1. From Thunderbird/Evolution/gmail/wherever: Save message (as .eml).
2. $ sudo apt-get install mpack # or equivalent for your OS - install package called "mpack"
3. $ munpack message.eml

# bash, multiple files:
$ for f in *.eml; do munpack $f; done

 How to not see it: open it in Thunderbird/Evolution/Outlook
Upgrade Thunderbird to 3.x (ESET antivirus immediatelyu goes crazy scanning Thunderbird indexing Inbox urgh!). Forward to gmail. Try to open .eml with mutt. Thunderbird attachment for viewing emails. Not sure if it would manage to unpack these messages.

I see same problem. 
With latest Thunderbird 3.0 (and previous 2.x versions) MIME boundary
containing commas (and other non-alpha chars) doesn't get decoded. MIME message
just shown inline as text not decoded.

Coming from someone using a nokia E65 phone.

The headers seem to have some corruption.
X-OriginalArrivalTime: and Date: header get inserted in To: line which maybe had some end of line chars in a row in it.

This is probably the REAL problem. "probably is when there is a small chance the thing won't happen" - Kate @ dinner this tea-time.

The problem I see seems to be because the email headers have a blank line inside the To: header line. Email readers Thunderbird/Evolution/Outlook/mutt display the message body starting after the blank line in To: line and MIME message type is not detected. nokia + hotmail
munpack extracts attachments okay.

In paper form I've finished one of Daire's books - and another, Brisinger the 3rd of Eragon cycle which I've finally got. Nice. Grand. I like a good yarn. With different creatures and cultures. But mmmh the magic maybe in a way is too powerful and makes things too easy. And I don't know how the dragon puts up with being in Eragon's head the whole time as one book is enough :-P for now anyway :)

Sometimes I can with my kids. The younger ones! So I'm very curious how to influence people en-masse. Onward! Towards a liberal fun greener lovlier future.  Surprised the intro/other stuff pitches it as a marketing/advertising business book. Cool ideas, very thought provoking, makes sense OF course we've a huge herd instinct, he illustrates and describes this working in different ways very very well.

recover Fionn's mobile from badness.

I think Fionn's phone has done this a bit before.
If it is low on free memory then it gets very slow + flaky.
Drops calls, resets, ...
Need to free up memory by clearing off photos/videos/messages.

I had copied photos off it a week ago - bluetooth to laptop. But failed to delete them after copying. The delete just timedout. I manually transferred and deleted videos and reset the phone. This gave 2M free instead of about 1M. Then deleting and transferring photos wasn't going fast. Manually I copied a couple of files across but mostly ubuntu konqueror file browser window would hang/pulse for a bit then report error.  So I called my bt-sync-mobile.sh script repeatedly and it transferred a few files each time and eventually also deleted all. With a small mod. Yays.
