Campfire song: There are no bananas in the sky

Great song 🙂 tune very close to .. Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. There are no .. bananas in the sky, in the sky, There are no .. bananas in the sky, in the sky, But there’s a sun, And a moon, And a coconut cream pie (dramatic pause) But there are no bananas in the sky, in the sky! (Actions on NO, bananas, sky, sun, moon, coconut cream pie) The action words are also louder and more dramatic and No and Pie are long. Coconut cream pie of course is a massive planetary object much bigger than the Sun and Moon. Repeat going silent on another action word each time until penultimate verse: There are (action) (action) in the (action) in the (action) There are (action) (action) in the (action) in the (action) But there’s a (action), and a (action), and a (action), But there are (action) (action) in the (action), in the (action)! And finish up very dramatically with all the words back in.

idea/thought: Importance of setting for education, chimes with #EducatingIsPerformance, Engagement

Triggered by: https://twitter.com/BrookeEdu/status/1595450828298534913

On friendly space to be in school, example being a Library and how furniture, decorations etc matter. And how could you do the same with other spaces e.g. Math classroom ...

Thinking that our Scout Den needs more nice things on display.

Related to #EducationIsPerformance (not really IS performance but #TeacherPerformanceHelpsEducation is maybe less catchy? TPHE ?) i.e. if the educator can perform and engage students it helps get things started. If the space is right and you have good materials and tools then it helps learning to happen.

Goran brought power drill to Scouts yesterday :-) We dug out spars, wood, sticks, saws ..

3 groups working on making better 1. work-tops/tables, 2. sink/basin wash stands, 3. plate rack.

Replying to
upon entering, there was a large projector screen with a fireplace scene and music playing, twinkle lights, soft seating, a variety of book generes, and places for collaboration. the space was curated with intention and it mattered to the students.

the study is focused on the math classroom, and so i cannot help but wonder how this might translate into the math classroom. looking forward to digging into these interviews!
